5. Rome
Roma – not to be confused with the film of the same name – is an American, English and Italian collaboration, created by John Milius, William J. MacDonald and Bruno Heller.

6. Spartacus
One of the most popular series on Netflix, Spartacus was produced in New Zealand and features Andy Whitfield and later Liam McIntyre in the lead role.

7. The Man from Castelo Alto
Created by Frank Spotnitz, O Homem do Castelo Alto is based on a 1962 book of the same name.

8. Land Girls
Created by Roland Moore, Land Girls features Summer Strallen, Christine Bottomley, Jo Woodcock and Becci Gemmell in the cast.

9. Vikings
Vikings, another of the best war series, is a historical drama created and written by Michael Hirst. It features Travis Fimmel in the cast.

11. Time Between Seams
A Spanish series, O Tempo Entre Costuras is a drama based on a book of the same name by María Dueñas.

12. Five Came Back
Five Came Back is another Netflix documentary that was released in 2017 and is based on a book of the same name from 2014.

Of Norwegian origin, Nobel is a series that was launched in 2016, directed by Per-Olav Sørensen and written by Mette M. Bølstad and Stephen Uhlander.
