Anime Guide 2020: Complete List of Releases
The previous year was great for those who love to watch anime, with great seasons being released over the months. Fortunately, 2020 also looks very promising. So far, we already have a good indication of what can be released, both for new anime and existing works with seasons being renewed. To help you prepare, we created an anime guide 2020, in which you can check out a little about the main works to be released this year.
If you're curious to know what's in the anime guide 2020, you can check out our main suggestions in detail in the list below. Enjoy!
1. Kingdom
To open our list, we have the third season of Kingdom. Considering that the second season of the anime ended in 2014, I can say that it is a surprise and a relief to finally have the chance to see the rest of the story being adapted into an anime.
Previously, we were left in the middle of an arc involving a terrible war for the main characters, so it will be interesting to see its conclusion. The new episodes are set to debut during our fall.
2. The Irregular at Magic High School
Here is another anime that will also receive a new season after a long hiatus. The first season of The Irregular at Magic High School aired in 2014, and since then we've only had one film from the franchise in 2017.
This unprecedented season is expected to focus on a new student and the investigation of some crimes. A great opportunity for old fans and people who didn't know anime yet.
3. Certain Scientific Railgun T
Certain Scientific Railgun T is nothing more than a spin off of the anime A Certain Magical Index. For those unfamiliar, the anime has had two seasons between 2009 and 2013, so it's great to know that it's back.
From what you've seen so far, the new episodes will have the same amount of action, sci-fi and everyday elements as the previous ones.
4. Sword Art Online: Alicization – War of Underworld
Sword Art Online is an extremely popular anime, although it is still heavily criticized for its quality on occasion. Still, many anime fans agree that Sword Art Online: Alicization – War of Underworld, its third season, is far better than what we've seen so far.
For that reason alone it is worthwhile to at least give a chance for its second part, which starts now in the beginning of 2020.
5. Assault Lily: Bouquet
Here is a very interesting case. Assault Lily is basically a very popular line of dolls in Japan and will now receive an anime adaptation.
Of course, this may even be a way to further promote the line of figures, but it is not possible to say that we are not curious. The whole plot is about teenage girls who must save the world with the help of an instrument called "CHARM", which mixes magic and science.
6. Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?
The third season of "Is it Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?", Also known only as DanMachi, is expected to arrive only in the middle of this year. The episodes will continue Bell Cranel's adventures in his quest to become a great adventurer.
Although the name and some of its themes are doubtful, the anime can be quite interesting. It's worth checking out if you want something different.
7. Attack on Titan
Attack on Titan is easily one of the most popular animes today, including in the West. So it cannot be denied that its fourth and final season is one of the most anticipated this year.
We will not give spoilers, but considering that the third season had unexpected revelations, there are very high expectations for the end of this anime. Unfortunately, we will still have to wait a few months for the season to air.
8. Evangelion: 3.0 + 1.0
Evangelion is a milestone among anime, being considered today one of the best ever created. So it's no big surprise that he continues to receive attention after 25 years of his original showing.
In this case, there is a reason, since the film Evangelion: 3.0 + 1.0 will be released after a long wait. This is the fourth and final film in the Rebuild series, which basically retells the events of the anime with new scenes, characters and even an unprecedented ending.
9. Goblin Slayer: Goblin’s Crown
Goblin Slayer had its last season in 2018, but that doesn't stop some of his other stories from being adapted in other ways. This is exactly the case with Goblin’s Crown.
The adventure shouldn't be much different than what we're used to seeing in the main anime. Anyway, it hits Japanese theaters in February this year.
10. Kimetsu no Yaiba: Infinity Train
Kimetsu no Yaiba, also known as Demon Slayer, was undoubtedly one of the biggest hits we saw in 2019. Both for its interesting episodes and for its fantastic animation.
In this case, we are not here to talk about a new season, but about the movie Infinity Train. It should debut soon in Japan and should also reach the west soon, considering its popularity.
11. That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime
With such a peculiar name, it is not surprising that That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime is one of the most popular anime of its kind isekai. In the first season, we accompany the protagonist who is killed and reincarnated in the form of a slime in a dungeon.
This second season continues to explore his adventures as he gets more powerful. Definitely worth checking out, if only to be distracted by something different.
12. The Promised Neverland
The second season of the successful The Promised Neverland also continues in 2020. It seems that it must be as intense as the first, although we do not have as many details about its episodes.
For those unfamiliar, the plot is about a group of orphaned children who discover that their orphanage is a human farm. This season should continue the adventures outside the orphanage, exploring positive and negative aspects of the world.
13. Darwin’s Game
Darwin’s Game tells the story of Sudou Kaname, who receives an invitation to play a seemingly fun mobile game. Everything changes when the game becomes a supernatural Battle Royale that has real consequences in your life.
Considering the popularity of Battle Royale games like Fortnite, it is not surprising that there are anime with this theme. Of course, this is nothing new in Japanese animations, but Darwin’s Game seems to appeal a little more to new fans of games of the genre.
14. Fruits Basket
Fruits Basket is a franchise relatively well-known by anime fans. In addition to its manga published between 1998 and 2006, the series received a 25-episode anime adaptation in 2001.
But in 2019 there was a reboot of the first season, with the second expected in 2020. This is a great opportunity to learn more about the franchise, especially since there are many scenes and characters from the manga that had not been seen in the original anime.
15. Yu-Gi-Oh!
What better anime to end our list than one of the most successful franchises in recent decades. The Yu-Gi-Oh! was originally released in 1996, with an anime adaptation debuting in 1998 and the most famous in 2000.
After some time without much news, a new season of the card game anime will be shown in 2020. There is still not much information about the plot or characters, so the way is to wait a little longer.
