How to make a website free

As we mentioned earlier, there are many platforms and tools that you can use to make a website free. Except that one of the fastest and that requires less prior knowledge of the user is Wix, perfect for those who are starting to deal with this subject.

It is exactly that that we will use in our guide, after all, it even has a special mode that helps you set up the site step by step. Just answer a few questions and fill in some fields and your website will be ready.

Making a website with Wix in 7 minutes

Well, first of all, you need to go to the Wix website, which can be accessed at the following link. It is not necessary to create an account right away if you do not have it yet, as we will do this in the following steps:

Step 1: already inside the Wix website, you must click on the “Start Now” option. If you have a Wix account, you can only login directly instead.

Step 2: If you don't have a Wix account, your own step will be to create one. You can do this from scratch or using a Facebook or Google account.

Choose the one you prefer and move on.

Step 3: on the next page, we will see two options being offered by Wix. The first option consists of Wix asking you questions and helping you make a free website step by step.

The second option lets you choose a ready-made template and start customizing the site from it. This second option requires more time and site knowledge, so let's continue with the Wix ADI option.

Just click on the “Start now” button to do this. If you prefer the more complex version, no problem, but it will take you longer to create your site.

Step 4: right after that, Wix will ask you what kind of website you want to create. There are some suggestions, but you can add your own theme yourself.

Just as an example, we looked for the “news” theme for what would be a news site and Wix offered a format based on that. To proceed, click on “Next”.

Step 5: You must now select which features will be present on your site. This depends a lot on the type of website you want to have, as not all functions make sense for the different types of websites available.

There is no point in choosing the online store resource if you have nothing to sell or the scheduling resource if you are not going to offer anything to be reserved, for example. Select what makes sense for your site and click "Next".

Step 6: in the next step, we’ll give our new website or blog a name. Choose the name you want and click "Next".

Step 7: this new page is only for those who already have some existing content or website. Basically, it offers a simple way to migrate content now you are about to make a free website on Wix.

Click "Next" to move on.

Step 8: in this step, you can place a logo for your website and check the name and email to which the website is linked. Other than that, you can add some other important information.

When you're done filling out that part, click "Next".

Step 9: Next, you must choose a theme for the colors and fonts used on your website. Click on one of the available options and click on the "Continue" option.

Step 10: now it's time to choose a design for your home page. You will have some options based on what you answered in other questions previously.

Just choose the one that you think fits most in what you want initially. Remembering that you can edit practically everything in the layout manually later.

Step 11: After that, you can also add different pages to your site in addition to the initial one. This includes a page with your contact, your social networks or even about you or your company.

Choose what you want and click on "Edit Site".

Step 12: here you will have your website in its initial frame with everything you just chose for it. It is possible to edit almost everything, but just go through the options manually.

When you decide that you are ready to go live, click on “Publish”.

Step 13: before finishing, you should only choose one domain for your site. There is the option of the free domain of the site, which still allows you to change the final part of the URL.

Other than that, there is the option of the custom domain, but it is necessary to pay for it. So, to make a website free, it is better to select the first option and click on “Publish and continue”.
