Inshot: How to crop and edit images and videos

Among so many video editing applications, Inshot is one that has stood out quite recently. It is easy to use, has several options and features and can still be used free of charge. You can also use it to make photo edits if you're not just looking for video editors.

Downloading the app

You can't do much without having the Inshot app in hand first. Currently, this image and video editor is only available for Android and iPhone smartphones.

There is no prediction or even a notion whether it will have a web or PC version one day, but it would be an excellent addition. Either way, you can download it for free from Google Play or the App Store.

The app itself can be downloaded and used for free largely, as we mentioned earlier. Still, there is a paid version that adds a few more features.

Inshot video editing

With the Inshot app installed on your smartphone, open it and you will see the home menu right away. It will not be necessary to create an account or login to use it, luckily.

To start editing your videos, click on the “Videos” option in this menu.

You will be asked to choose one of the videos available in your gallery. With that, you will go to the editing menu where the app displays all its features, as highlighted below:

If you select the “Canvas” option, you can change the format of the video size. This can be useful depending on where you want to share the video, for example.

Choosing the “Music” option, you will be able to add a song or sound effect that you have stored on your smartphone. It will also be possible to make changes to the original audio of the video only if you prefer.

In the “Sticker” option, you can select from several stickers to place them on the video.

The option "Text" and "Filter" are exactly the name of each one already says. You can use them to place some text or change the video filter to make it look different.

The "Trim" option simply allows you to cut and edit the video as you prefer. There are different types of cuts you can select, so it just depends on what you want to do with the video on Inshot.

If you drag that option bar to the left, you'll see even more features. Like the others, they are self-explanatory, but not as functional or useful as the options in the first row.

You can still click on the “+” symbol to add other video clips.

Now if you click on the timeline of the video itself, you will have a shortcut bar of actions you can perform. These will be the most common and useful actions, allowing you to not even have to look so much at that large row of resources.

When finished, click on the "Save" option at the top right of the screen.

Then, select the quality at which you want this video to be saved.

Finally, you can choose to share it on your social networks as well as save it on your smartphone.

Pretty simple, isn't it? The procedure for editing other videos is exactly the same, simply by selecting the features you prefer to use.

Inshot photo editing

If you also want to edit photos using Inshot, the layout is not much different. Just return to the home menu and select "Images" or "Collages" depending on what you prefer.

With that done, you will have to select which image you want to edit from the options in your gallery. You will notice that the editing options are practically the same as for video editing, with only a few missing.

Here you can also change the filter, add stickers, add text, etc.

When you finish editing, just click on “Save”.

Then, just select if you want to save the image on your phone or if you prefer to share it directly on social networks.

If you are not satisfied with some of the effects, filters and stickers in the app, you can get more. Returning to the home menu, you must click on the store option at the bottom.

In this store, there are some free options that you can download, but there are even more features for those who want to buy the premium version of Inshot.
