Setting up the Wi-Fi connection

The first option of Android Pie is the configuration of Wi-Fi connections. In it, you can enable and disable access to these networks, choose which network to use to access the Internet and control their use of mobile data, among others.

This is the main way to access Wi-Fi connections and keep your smartphone connected to the internet. The option Wi-Fi calling allows you to choose if you want the phone app to use the internet to connect. Ideal for using at home and not spending the minutes of your mobile plan.

To connect to other smartphones or devices in your home – such as speakers -, turn on the radio button Bluetooth.

After you turn it on, tap Bluetooth so that it looks for nearby handsets on which you can connect your Android.

In order for your friends to see that it is available for Bluetooth connection, activate the Phone visibility. Otherwise, they will not find your device even though the connection is enabled;

To disable all connections, click Offline mode. It will disable Internet access, SMS and messages, being the substitute for the famous Airplane mode of Apple's smartphones or previous editions of Android itself.

Finally, you can share your mobile access by using your phone as a Wi-Fi router. Remember that using this option turns Wi-Fi off automatically. In addition, all devices connected by the router use your mobile data franchise.

Set up Android device – Sounds

In the first item – Sound Mode -, you'll choose whether your Android should touch, vibrate or stay silent. Just touch the option and choose one of the options, as shown below:

In the button below, choose whether you want your phone to vibrate while it rings. In the following three options, you will set the ringing and vibrating pattern for calls. To change calls, click Touch;

How to set up notifications

Then, click Set period to decide how long notifications will be inactive. Just say what the opening time will be and when the lock ends.

If you are concerned about silencing the notifications during the night and risk not receiving calls about some urgency, you can configure some exceptions. In the menu Do Not Disturb, click in Allow exceptions.

If you use your cell phone as an alarm clock, make sure that the Alarms is checked. Then, click Calls from;

Change from All for Contacts only or Only favorite contacts. This avoids receiving calls from unknown numbers during the time you set up earlier.

Review the remaining items to see if there is any further exception to the quiet time you have set for notifications on your phone.

To manually configure which application can send notifications, return to the Notifications, scroll down and click View all;

From this screen, disable the button next to the app name to prevent it from sending you notifications.

Set up Android device – Viewer

As with sound settings, the display and screen settings are very simple, without having to change much. Access the Viewfinder in the Android main settings menu.

The first item that makes a lot of difference in the experience is the screen brightness. On the slider bar, you can adjust the brightness level of the device.

Just below, you can let the phone itself adjust the brightness levels automatically. When activating the Adaptive brightness, the device will make this adjustment according to the light level that affects the phone.

The other industry of the Android display settings are also important. Turning on the blue light filter means reducing your eye strain when facing the screen, but leaves the colors more yellowish.

Night mode, as the name says, is ideal for nighttime use, while also reducing the amount of lighting on your face. This makes navigation more enjoyable and I use it whenever I can.

These are the most important options in the display setting. The others are small adjustments that further customize the experience when you're setting up Android device. Here are some of the most relevant adjustments not shown above:

  • Backlight Duration: how long your Android stays on when the screen is idle;
  • Home screen: allows you to customize the opening screen of the phone and the organization of the icons;
  • Touch protection: Activate whenever you carry your phone in a pocket or purse;
  • Touch sensitivity: adjust how much pressure you must exert in order for the screen to recognize your touch;
  • Screen saver: Place an image that will be displayed when the phone is idle.

How to put wallpapers

Return to the settings. The next option in this list allows you to add themes and wallpaper to your home screen. To place new wallpapers, select the option Wallpapers and themes;

Then you can already browse and choose a wallpaper. At the bottom of the screen, you can see Samsung's recommendations. However, if you want to put a photo or image of your gallery, choose the Gallery;

Returning to the wallpapers menu, in the bottom bar you can choose themes for the interface of your Android and the style of the home screen icons. The process is similar to what you did following the steps above.

Set up Android device – Support & apps

Many of the following menus have already been set up when you turned on Android for the first time. Therefore, return to the settings menu and slide the screen down until you find the Service of the appliance:
