If Windows does not start or display a blue screen with a generic message, your best bet is to access the PC in "Safe Mode." In many cases, the problem may have been caused only by a driver update that went wrong.

To do this, it is quite simple. The "Safe Mode" screen usually appears whenever the PC has a problem and cannot boot Windows.

If she doesn't show up on her own, you can do it manually. Once the PC is turning on, keep pressing the F8 key until “Safe Mode” appears.

In this mode, you can check for possible errors and even do a “System Restore” to try to reverse the problem. Overall, this is the surest way to get Windows to work without having to use another system or format the disk.

4. Use Ubuntu

If your Windows actually got corrupted in any way, an alternative to accessing your files is to use a version of Linux such as Ubuntu. It is a very simple operating system to install and use.

As it is also completely free, it is a very easy way to use your PC as soon as possible. This way you will also have a clue if the problem is really Windows or another factor of your computer.

Ubuntu can even be installed on a Pen Drive, as we teach in this tutorial. This is very useful if you can't access the hard drive or allocate space for it on Linux.
